Flautas Ahogadas are crispy rolled tacos “drowned” in a delicious salsa, topped with fresh cheese, crema, and pico de gallo. This dish is bursting with flavor and perfect for any meal!
Ingredients:
For the Flautas (Rolled Tacos):
12 corn tortillas
2 cups shredded chicken, beef, or pork
1 cup shredded cheese (optional, like Oaxaca or Monterrey Jack)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
Oil for frying
For the Salsa Verde (Drowning Sauce):
10 tomatillos, husked and rinsed
2 serrano peppers (or jalapeños for less heat)
2 cloves garlic
½ cup chicken broth
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp salt
¼ cup cilantro
Juice of 1 lime
Toppings:
Mexican crema or sour cream
Queso fresco or cotija cheese (crumbled)
Pico de gallo (diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and cilantro)
Chopped fresh cilantro
