Season roast well with salt and pepper. Sear on all sides until brown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"763\"><strong data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"692\">Add Aromatics:<\/strong> Remove roast, then saut\u00e9 onions and garlic in the same pot until soft.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"979\"><strong data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"789\">Combine &amp; Braise:<\/strong> Return roast to the pot. Add cumin, chili powder, oregano, bay leaf, beef broth. Cover and simmer on low for 3\u20134 hours or until fork-tender. You can also use a slow cooker (8 hours on low).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1098\"><strong data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1002\">Shred &amp; Serve:<\/strong> Remove roast, shred the meat, and return to juices. Add lime juice for extra flavor if desired.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"488\" data-end=\"498\">For <strong data-start=\"1113\" data-end=\"1152\">Homemade Flour Tortillas:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1362\">Mix dry ingredients, cut in lard, add water to form soft dough.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1400\">Divide into 12 balls, rest 15 min.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1457\">Roll out and cook on hot skillet 30 seconds per side.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1488\"><strong data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1488\">For Mexican Rice:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1739\">Toast rice in oil until golden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1774\">Add onion &amp; garlic, cook 1 min.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1815\">Stir in tomato sauce &amp; broth, season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"1862\">Cover, simmer 20 min, fluff before serving.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1869\" data-end=\"1894\"><strong data-start=\"1877\" data-end=\"1894\">For Refried Beans:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2126\">Heat lard\/oil in skillet.
