Ingredients:

1 lb (450 g) ground beef (lean preferred)

2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced into cubes

1 cup cooked pinto beans (canned or home-cooked)

2 medium tomatoes (or 1 cup tomato puree)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1-2 fresh green chiles (optional, for heat)

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp chili powder or paprika

1 tsp oregano (Mexican oregano if available)

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 cups beef or chicken broth

Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
