👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Cook the Beans (if using dried):

Rinse pinto beans and soak overnight (or use a quick soak method).

Add to a pot with 6 cups of water and a bay leaf.

Simmer 1.5–2 hours until tender. Add salt at the end.

2. Prepare the Beef Mixture:

In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until translucent.

Stir in garlic, green chile, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Simmer for 5–10 minutes to blend flavors.

3. Combine:

Add the cooked beans (with some broth) to the skillet, or transfer both to a pot.

Simmer together for 15–20 minutes to let the flavors come together.

🍽 Serving:

Serve hot in a bowl with warm flour tortillas or cornbread.

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, a dash of lime juice.

💡 Pro Tips:

For a deeper flavor, use beef bone broth or add a ham hock when cooking the beans.

Want heat? Add diced jalapeño or serrano with the green chile.
